Federal Government Relations
The University of Nebraska System Federal Relations Council represents the NU System to both the legislative and executive branches of the federal government, participating on behalf of the NU System in a variety of national forums and advocating for our university priorities.
Members represent the NU System in national higher education associations and interact with colleagues at universities across the country. The team is actively engaged in policy issues related to higher education.
Building federal partnerships is key to securing funding for many nationally recognized research institutes and initiatives of the University of Nebraska System. Federal funding accounts for 25 percent of the University’s total budget.
Lobbying Disclosure Notice
In compliance with the federal Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA), the University of Nebraska System must provide a full and timely disclosure of its lobbying activities.
The LDA requires the system to register and file quarterly reports on federal lobbying activities with the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Secretary of the U.S. Senate (2 USC Sections 1603-1604).
In these quarterly reports, the system is required to provide detailed information regarding the specific issues on which it lobbied and a good-faith estimate of the total expenses incurred in connection with its lobbying activities.
