In September 2026, President Gold announced the launch of a national search for the next chancellor of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
A search advisory committee has been assembled and represents a broad range of UNL constituents, both within the university and across the community. Additionally, a national executive search firm will be engaged to assist with candidate recruitment and evaluation. That firm has not yet been selected.
This fall, listening sessions will be held to hear from faculty, staff, students, and others across Nebraska about the qualities, experience and priorities we should seek in the next chancellor. These perspectives will help inform the development of a position profile, with the goal of publishing by the end of 2026. Dates, times and locations will be made available soon.
Applications will be reviewed and candidates evaluated in early 2027, with confidential interviews with the search advisory committee planned for the spring. Once a priority candidate is selected, there will be a 30-day vetting period and numerous opportunities for individuals to provide an assessment and input on the potential hire.
Updates will continue to be provided on this website as the search committee is finalized, the search firm is selected and listening sessions are scheduled.
