CAD Drafting Standards
FP&CP is responsible for archiving electronic “as-built” construction documents produced as part of capital construction projects.
FP&CP is also responsible for generating and maintaining accurate electronic floor plans for all campus facilities. These floor plans support many campus entities and initiatives including telecommunications, building automation systems, CCTV, access control, maintenance management, security, Space Management and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
In addition, FP&CP staff performs Architectural/Engineering design services on an in-house basis for some capital construction projects.
In order to support FP&CP’s missions, a well-defined and detailed set of Computer Aided Design (CAD) standards are required in order to maximize efficiencies and usability.
This document details FP&CP’s CAD standards for the production and delivery of CAD documents for all capital construction projects.
CAD Library Downloads
Partial CUI File
Included in this CUI file are NU commands that will load all NU standard layers, linetypes and drawing settings. They are provided in the menu bar or in a ribbon panel. You can use either option to fit your need. Note: to load the NU linetypes you will need to have the linetype file (NU.lin) loaded within AutoCAD for this command to work.
FP&CP has created a library of general blocks specific to NU projects. Download any of these items that apply to your project. The Packaged General Symbols.zip includes all general symbols.
FP&CP uses various linetypes within our drawings. This file will provide you with all the linetypes that NU uses. Place this file in the support folder within AutoCAD on your computer. Once file is loaded, you can then load these files within your AutoCAD drawing. See table 3.6.4 of the CAD Drafting Standards to see which layer the linetypes are assigned to.
This plot style used by NU is color dependent (.ctb) files that set the style based on the color of the object. Refer to section 6.2 of the CAD Drafting Standards.
Title Block Templates
Refer to section 3.5.3 of the CAD Drafting Standards for more information regarding NU Title Blocks.
