Emily Johnson currently serves as the Student Body President of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she majors in Political Science, Spanish, and Global Studies. Through this position, she has worked to expand student access to counseling services, participated in voter registration efforts, and lobbied for higher education policies at the federal level. A Lincoln Southeast high school grad, Emily likes to stay involved in her hometown community by preparing recently-settled refugees for the U.S. Citizenship Exam through Lincoln Literacy. Her experiences interning with local lobbyists and attorneys, volunteering on a U.S. Senate campaign, and working as a political science research assistant have influenced her desire to pursue a JD with an emphasis in immigration law after graduation. In her free time, Emily likes to try new foods, bike on Lincoln’s bike trails, and waterski.
