Marlene Busse

Administrative Assistant for the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture in the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, UNL
June 1, 2017

The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award to Marlene Busse, administrative assistant for the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture in the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Marlene’s primary responsibility is serving graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture. This service begins before most students set foot on campus, as she is the first contact for graduate student inquiries. She monitors the progress of applications, and serves as a link between the applicant, the graduate college and the department faculty advisors to ensure timely and accurate communication.

Kudos Marlene Busse

Dennis McCallister, Professor of Soil Science and Teaching Coordinator; Richard Busse, husband; Regent Kenney; Marlene Busse, recipient; Chancellor Green; President Bounds.

Marlene also plays an important role with respect to undergraduate and graduate curriculum. She is the “go-to” person in regards to class scheduling and enrollment monitoring. Whether a professor needs to find a different classroom for an unexpectedly large enrollment or a student is trying to find when a course is offered, Marlene acts quickly and effectively. Marlene has a “can do” attitude with exceptional competence and patience.

Today Marlene is accompanied by Roch Gaussoin, Department Head of Agronomy and Horticulture, Dennis McCallister, Professor of Soil Science and Teaching Coordinator, and her husband, Richard.

Please join me in thanking Marlene for her dedication to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and to the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
