On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to present a KUDOS award to Cindy Plate of UNMC. Cindy is the administrative and faculty support supervisor in the Eppley Institute, and the Pancreas Cancer Program Coordinator and SPORE (Special Programs of Research Excellence) administrator for the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.
With 15 years of experience, Cindy oversees a staff of four full-time grant/project associates and one part-time grants projects associate, who are responsible for the administrative support of the Eppley Institute’s 28 faculty members. Cindy is praised for having excellent organizational, management and support skills, and for being a key resource in grant proposal preparation.
Nominator Dr. Surinder Batra says Cindy is an outstanding example of the type of person UNMC needs to recruit, retain and reward. “Cindy has shown extraordinary energy, management and organizational skills and has provided a multi-talented approach to the administrations of grants, fellows and collaborators both inside and outside UNMC,” he said. She also has contributed greatly to the development of the Pancreatic Cancer Program and Eppley Institute.
Nominator Dr. Tony Hollingsworth said it was Cindy’s exceptional level of performance and service that enabled her to rise through the ranks since she joined UNMC in 2005. Her contributions have significantly raised the profile of the program and the perception of quality at UNMC on a national and international level.
Today, Cindy Plate is accompanied by her supervisor, Matt Winfrey, Dr. Tony Hollingsworth and Chris Whitted. Please join me in thanking Cindy for her contributions to the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
