Katherine has been a dedicated employee since her arrival at UNO nearly eight years ago. In her current role, Katherine provides mental health counseling services to students, staff, and faculty. She also works with crisis intervention, consultation, and numerous outreach programs.

Her background working with the military and mental health has helped the Counseling Center fill the needs of our military and veteran students enrolled at UNO.

As a member of the Wellness team, Katherine was asked to develop the Maverick Food Pantry. Not only did she get it started, she also transformed it into an extremely efficient practice. Since its opening in 2013, the Maverick Food Pantry has distributed more than 7,800 pounds of food to UNO students and other members of the UNO community who are in need. Most recently, the Maverick Food Pantry raised more than $1,600 during the 24-hour charitable event challenge, ‘Omaha Gives!’

Katherine’s nominators praised her interpersonal skills, compassion, humor, respect for others, insightfulness, and innovation. They said, “Katherine is an excellent organizer and advocate for student needs. She has been successful in delivering compassion and support. ”

Today Katherine has brought her parents, Ron and Rita Keiser; husband, Aaron Rodenburg; daughter, Katelyn; and son, Asher.

Please join me in thanking Katherine for her dedication to the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
