FAQs
General
YuJa is the video content management solution that is replacing VidGrid at UNK, UNL and UNO. It is being offered as an additional video content management solution at UNMC and may also be used for non-academic video needs.
What is YuJa Mobile?
YuJa Mobile is the mobile app that allows users to access YuJa Media Channels, Mobile Capture and Mobile Upload.

YuJa provides users unlimited streaming (e.g. bandwidth), storage and captioning.
Are there any video size restrictions?
No, there are no restrictions. However, please remember that all videos that are captured or uploaded by faculty are automatically machine captioned at ~90-95%+ accuracy. The longer the video, potentially the longer the processing time.
Currently, VidGrid is used for professional/human captioning services. Is this being moved to YuJa?
Yes. Professional/human captioning services was integrated into YuJa during the Fall 2022 term. Users can continue to use VidGrid for their professional/human captioning needs until June 2023. All videos created or uploaded by faculty to YuJa are automatically machine captioned at ~90-95% accuracy. Professional / human captioning at 99%+ accuracy is available. For more information, contact the Academic Technology team on your campus.
Timeline
When will I be able to (or when should I) start using YuJa?
YuJa is available for use by all users at this time. VidGrid will be decommissioned on June 30, 2023.
When will the existing content in VidGrid be migrated?
The first migration of existing VidGrid content was copied to YuJa on October 30, 2022. Migrated content is in YuJa > My Media > “your University Email Address” folder. In Canvas, VidGrid links will be exchanged to YuJa links during the Spring 2023 semester for all Fall 2022 courses and older in Canvas. The second migration of VidGrid content that was created between October 30, 2022 and the end of the Spring 2023 semester will be copied into YuJa in May 2023. Faculty will need to update any VidGrid links in Canvas to YuJa links for content that was created during this timeframe.

Access
How do I access YuJa?
The recommendation is for all students and teaching faculty to access YuJa via Canvas.
- Instructors are able to enable the YuJa plug-in within the course
- Students should access YuJa from the course's left-hand navigation once the instructor has enabled the link.
Direct Login to YuJa using single sign-on
- UNK: unk.yuja.com
- UNL: unl.yuja.com
- UNMC: unmc.yuja.com
- UNO: unomaha.yuja.com
Do I need separate access to YuJa for each campus?
Yes. Each campus has their own YuJa zone, which requires a separate login. The zones are designed to be accessed from within a Canvas course.
When will I lose access to VidGrid?
Users will continue to have access to VidGrid until the end of the Spring 2023 term.
Content Migration
Will the existing content in VidGrid be migrated?
Yes. As part of the YuJa implementation, the vendor's processes include copying all existing content data from VidGrid into YuJa. Their process includes updating all reference linkages in Canvas – link updating will be completed during the spring 2023 semester. It does not include updating reference linkages outside of Canvas, so those will need to be manually updated by the owner.

Will I need to do anything in preparation or as part of the migration?
The vendor will migrate all data content from VidGrid to YuJa.
Will the existing data in VidGrid be available during the migration?
Yes. However, the content in VidGrid should be used as reference-only once it is migrated. Any modifications done in VidGrid after the content is copied to YuJa will not be reflected in YuJa and will not be available to end users, since the reference linkages will no longer point to the VidGrid version of the video.
