Canvas Convergence
Under the direction of Interim Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. David Jackson - who serves as Chair and Executive Sponsor for this project - and with input from each campus Chief Academic Officer, the University of Nebraska has elected to move to a single instance of Canvas rather than remaining in separate, campus-specific instances.
Artificial Intelligence
NU ITS is working collaboratively with academic leadership on each campus to align AI solutions to broader organizational goals. While we bring a depth of expertise in technology, we understand that innovation thrives on collaboration.
Future Ready Cloud Collaboration Workspace
The University of Nebraska System is embarking on a transformative project to streamline and modernize digital collaboration across its campuses. Over the next 18 months, Information Technology Services, in partnership with Microsoft, will unify Microsoft 365 for the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Lincoln, Omaha, and the Office of the President. (UNMC is not in scope for this project at this time.)
IT Security and Standards
In order to stay ahead of new threat tactics, our cyber posture will continue to advance in 2023 through enhancements to access management, endpoint protection, and firewalls. This includes the Responsible Use of University Computers and Information Systems work that continues through 2025.
Digital Accessibility
ITS aims to create environments where everyone, everywhere can access information. In advance of the Title II Department of Justice deadline in April 2026, we are partnering with all campuses and key individuals to assist in these efforts.
