SuccessFactors: A New Solution; Not a People Admin Revamp
For a while now we have been telling you about all of the great things that you will be able to do in SuccessFactors. And there are lots. It is important to understand that this move to a new system is more than a shift in the application we use for recruiting and onboarding. It is a new way of doing recruiting and onboarding.

SuccessFactors looks and feels different from PeopleAdmin; and it introduces new approaches to working that offer opportunities the old system did not provide. These enhanced functionalities help us to achieve three main goals: increasing collaboration, modernizing integration, and enhancing functionality. We will be able to work smarter, foster collaboration across teams and campuses, and seamlessly integrate with our SAP system.
This update gives us a chance to look at things differently and find better ways to get things done. The workflows and new features all work together to make processes more transparent to all that use the system. Everyone benefits - human resources, the hiring manager, and even the new hire stepping into their role.
Leaving the old way behind and embracing our new future state will certainly require some getting used to; however, the benefits of this transition to SuccessFactors are well worth the change. SuccessFactors is not simply a revamp of PeopleAdmin; it is an entirely new solution that transforms how we approach processes and collaboration.
Onboarding: Review New Hire Data
Once onboarding is initiated, as outlined in Fun Fact Friday Volume 10, the designated campus individual collects the new hire’s information and reviews their data. Today’s edition of Fun Fact Friday takes us through that process.

The “For You Today” section highlights all tasks that require your attention. In the screenshot to the right, you will find the “Data Review” card to the far right. Clicking on this card opens the “Data Review” dashboard shown below. If multiple cards appear, clicking “View All” lets you see the complete list.

All onboarding-related tasks display in this “Data Review” dashboard. Select the “Final New Hire Data Review” card for the individual you are onboarding.

The first section to review is the “Identity” section. Here, you confirm that the “Event Reason” is set to “New Hire (HIRNEW).” In this and all the following sections, it is essential to review and complete all required fields, marked with a red asterisk (*).

After reviewing and completing the “Provide Personal Data” section, proceed to the following sections: Work Address, Job Info, and Basic Pay & Cost Distribution.

When you reach the “Basic Pay” section, make sure that you select the appropriate Wage Type and Amount (hourly rate or monthly rate), as shown in the screenshot to the right, along with any other required fields.
A final click on “Review Completed” completes the data review process. If any data is incomplete or incorrect, you can use the “Request Correction” button to return the task to the new hire for updates.

You play an essential role in onboarding by successfully reviewing the new hire data. Carefully checking the data and ensuring all required fields are complete enables an efficient and accurate data validation process which ensures a smooth data transfer to SAP for the employee’s file.
