NU Board of Regents to Meet Oct 5

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will meet Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege St. in Lincoln. The Academic Affairs Committee meets at noon and the Board meeting begins at 12:45 p.m. All meetings are open to the public. Meetings also will be audio-streamed live at www.nebraska.edu.

Noon: Academic Affairs Committee

Topic: Increasing Retention and Graduation Rates

Presenters: Bill Watts, University of Nebraska-Lincoln director of university advising and career services; T. Hank Robinson, University of Nebraska at Omaha director of institutional effectiveness; and Ed Scantling, University of Nebraska at Kearney associate vice chancellor for academic services and enrollment management

12:45 p.m.: Board of Regents meeting

Items for the Board’s consideration include:

  • Extension of President Hank Bounds’ contract by one year, to June 30, 2021, with no increase in salary. (Addendum VIII-A-1)
  • Creation of a master’s degree in business analytics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Addendum IX-A-2)
  • Creation of a master’s degree in finance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Addendum IX-A-3)
  • Creation of a Master of Health Administration at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. (Addendum IX-A-5)
  • Creation of an occupational therapy doctorate at UNMC. (Addendum IX-A-6)
  • Establishment of a Department of Neurosurgery in the College of Medicine at UNMC. (Addendum IX-A-7)
  • Approval of plans for and naming of the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Addendum IX-B-3)
  • Approval of plans for renovation of the Nebraska East Union at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Addendum IX-B-4)
  • Approval of plans for renovation of Arts and Sciences Hall at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. (Addendum IX-B-12)
