NU Board of Regents to meet March 31

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will meet Friday, March 31, 2017, at Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege St. in Lincoln. Committee meetings will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the Board meeting begins at 10 a.m. All meetings are open to the public. Meetings also will be audio-streamed live at www.nebraska.edu.

8:30 a.m.: Academic Affairs Committee

Topic: NU Pipeline Programs

  • UNL Rural Law Opportunities Program (Richard Moberly, interim dean, College of Law)
  • UNK Engineering (Charlie Bicak, senior vice chancellor for academic and student affairs)
  • UNO Urban Health Opportunities Program (Deborah Smith-Howell, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs)
  • UNMC High School Alliance (Dele Davies, vice chancellor for academic affairs; Heidi Kaschke, program coordinator of the High School Alliance; and students Elias Witt and Autumn Breazile)

9:30 a.m.: Student Regent Updates

10 a.m.: Board of Regents meeting

Items for the Board’s consideration include:

  • Creation of a bachelor’s degree in health sciences to be administered by the College of Natural and Social Sciences at UNK. (Addendum IX-A-1)
  • Creation of a bachelor’s degree in sports media and communication in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at UNL. (Addendum IX-A-2)
  • Creation of an agriculture undergraduate certificate in the Agriculture Production Systems Division at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. (Addendum IX-A-3)
  • Approval of the plans and budget for a remodel of the Nebraskan Student Union at UNK. (Addendum IX-B-2)
