Board of Regents elects Clare as chair

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents today elected Tim Clare as chairman for 2013. Clare, of Lincoln, represents District 1 and was elected to the Board in 2008. He served as vice chairman in 2012.

Regent Howard Hawks of Omaha, who represents District 2, was elected vice chairman for 2013.

Born in Omaha, Clare is a partner at Rembolt Ludtke LLP. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his MBA and law degree from Creighton University. He has served on the UNL College of Business Administration Alumni Board, where he is a past president, and has served as an adjunct faculty member in the college. He is vice chair of the Joint Public Agency, the governing board for the Lincoln West Haymarket Arena, and is on the board of directors for Union Bank and Trust Co. He is a past board president and executive board member for Heartland Big Brothers Big Sisters and past president of the board for the Lincoln Estate Planning Council.

Hawks, born in Carleton, Neb., is founder and chairman of Tenaska. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from UNL and his MBA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Hawks was elected to the Board in 2002 and served as chairman in 2005.
