NU Admissions Directors Meet with Guidance Counselors
Lincoln, NE, September 9, 2005 – Admissions directors from the University of Nebraska’s Lincoln, Kearney and Omaha campuses will hold a series of informational meetings for guidance counselors throughout the state over the next two weeks. The annual “Counselor Updates” provide the latest information on scholarships and financial aid, academic programs, extracurricular activities and housing options at the University of Nebraska.

Sessions will be held in these locations:

September 12 – Norfolk, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Lifelong Learning Center – NECC, 601 E. Benjamin Avenue

September 13 – Omaha, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., UNO Scott Conference Center 6450 Pine Street

September 14 – Lincoln, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., UNL Nebraska Union Auditorium, 14th & R Street

September 20 – Kearney, 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m., UNK Nebraskan Student Union 19th Avenue and University Drive

September 21 – North Platte, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Quality Inn and Suites, Sandhills Convention Center, 2102 South Jeffers

September 22 – Scottsbluff, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., University of Nebraska Panhandle Research and Extension Center, 4502 Avenue I

“Counselors can play a significant role in increasing the college-going rate in Nebraska,” said James B. Milliken, president of the university. “Teachers and counselors may be second only to parents in their influence over a student’s decision to attend college. The more information they have, the better able they are to help students in making this important decision.”
