Leann Galusha
Assistant to the Chair
Department of Chemistry

The Board of Regents is pleased today to present a KUDOS award to Leann Galusha (Gah-loosh’-ah), assistant to the chair in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Since joining UNL in 2001 Leann has made a remarkable impact on the department and the university. The Chemistry chair’s assistant is the liaison between the chair’s office and the department - as well as the liaison between the department and the university community. That means Leann is often the first point of contact for callers and visitors, faculty and staff members, undergraduate and graduate students, visiting scientists and visiting speakers. She is determined to create a more inviting environment at the department and university – while staying upbeat and unruffled during even the most difficult situations.

Leann came to the department with strong office skills and has continued to grow as a professional. She handles her job with enthusiasm and dedication, ready to do whatever it takes to advance the mission of the department. She repeatedly has shown her ability to master new skills on short notice. She has learned it all: Personnel forms, hourly timekeeping, reports to accreditation agencies.

Leann is a person whose work exemplifies the finest traditions of the University of Nebraska. She goes above and beyond. Leann has helped with a number of the department’s recruiting and outreach efforts – and, in fact, recently assumed responsibility for the challenging immigration paperwork related to international hiring. She simply will not leave until the job is done.

Luann’s guests today are: Pat Dussault (do-sew), her supervisor and chair of the Chemistry Department - and her husband, Ronald Galusha.

Please join me in congratulating Leann Galusha for receiving a KUDOS Award.
