Research Information Systems
The Board of Regents is pleased today to present a KUDOS award to Tim Savage, Director of Research Information Systems at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Tim’s duties and responsibilities are many. But one of the highlights in his accomplishments has been the leadership of an extraordinary team that developed something called NUgrant - an inhouse electronic research administration system. The system is a portal that allows faculty to submit their research grant proposals and conflict of interest disclosures online, and for administrators to access real-time information and trends on research funding.
The system was designed to tie into other electronic systems at UNL, and also interfaces with the federal government’s portal called, grants.gov. Tim’s efforts have literally saved UNL from having to purchase a commercial product, most likely at a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
In leading a top-notch team of programmers and graphic designers, Tim demonstrates a gracious client-service approach, as well as an extremely hard work ethic. His programming and leadership skills are a tremendous asset to UNL’s Research, as well as to the entire University of Nebraska system.
