Low Vision Assistant Coordinator, Ophthamology and Visual Sciences, UNMC
On behalf of the Board of Regents I am pleased to present a KUDOS award to Pat Jones, the Low Vision Assistant Coordinator for Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Co-workers say Pat represents quality, caring, empathy, high standards and is the poster person for excellence in everything she does. She strives to make each day better than the previous day, and wants the best for every patient as well as every employee. She constantly shows the positive side of UNMC to all those around her.
Pat has spent the past three years with the driving passion of establishing a low vision rehabilitation house at UNMC – and was diligent in helping to keep the dream alive. Ground was recently broken for just such a facility, which will open in the spring of 2008. And Pat worked tirelessly to help make it happen.
Through it all, colleagues say, Pat remains a calm, patient, conscientious and caring employee. In addition to her assigned duties working with low vision clients, she makes the workplace better for each employee. She remembers birthdays, special occasions and is always there when a thoughtful listener is needed.
Pat says of her work: “It’s satisfying to be part of a service that provides renewed hope to people who face the challenges of living with low vision. I like to help them maintain their independence and improve their quality of life.”
