Melanie Schrack
Director of Pediatric Research Office, UNMC
This Kudos award is presented to Melanie Schrack, director of the Pediatric Research Office in the department of pediatrics in the College of Medicine at UNMC. Melanie not only meets the award criteria, she excels—going above and beyond on a daily basis. She approaches each challenge with a positive can-do attitude, knowledge, experience, professionalism and savvy.   Melanie accomplishes every task placed in front of her in a way that makes everyone around her feel successful and vital to the process.  She is a true team player.

As an administrator for the Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence program, Melanie’s duties included budget management for four key facilities and five research projects.  She also manages arrangements for the department’s seminar series, Journal Club and annual meetings, working closely with the External Advisory Committee.  Melanie also provides secretarial assistance for the faculty members and physicians in her department. 

During Melanie’s time at UNMC, she has grown into a wonderful leader who successfully manages several complicated programs, while at the same time helping and inspiring those around her.  Through her work with the Pediatric Department and the COBRE Center, she has contributed to the educational mission at UNMC as well as the growth of both basic and clinical research.  With her skill, dedication, and ability to work well with others, she is clearly deserving of this recognition.  Thank you, Melanie, for your hard work and dedication.
