Carmen has worked at UNK for 15 years, previously serving in the Office of Student Records and Registration. Her appointment to the Division of Graduate Admissions began two years ago and, according to colleagues, she “hit the ground running.” Her experience in records and registration, her ability to learn quickly, her effective organizational skills, and her willingness to assume new and difficult assignments made her a perfect fit.

She transitioned easily to her new responsibilities, which include assisting graduate students from their admissions process through graduation; verifying that their degree requirements for graduation have been met; and maintaining strong relationships with faculty and staff. Recently, when asked to take on the responsibilities of Graduate Office ImageNow implementation, she did not hesitate. The project will produce major changes for the office, for graduate admission procedures and for graduate departments across campus, and will eventually result in a paperless office process. Her rapport with faculty and staff will serve her well in this endeavor.
Carmen is also admired for the exemplary customer service she provides to students. At the end of each semester, graduates are asked to complete a survey about their experiences. Students regularly rate the Office of Graduate Admissions as most helpful. Carmen responds quickly and completely to questions. It is clear that she excels in her commitment to student success as well as in her other responsibilities.
