There are three categories we refer to when discussing AI tools across the NU system:
Enterprise Tools
Enterprise AI tools are paid AI solutions that are administered, owned, and operated by the Office of the President, or that the University of Nebraska System manages and makes available to the university community. These tools provide enterprise-grade security, helping ensure your interactions remain protected and are not used to train future AI models.
Paid Consumer (Non-Enterprise) Tools
Paid consumer (non-enterprise) AI tools are services that individuals purchase or access on their own, rather than through a university-approved enterprise environment. While some of these tools may offer privacy settings or state that user interactions are not used to train future models, those protections can vary and may change over time.
Free Tools
Free tools are versions of any AI service (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, etc.) that an individual creates themselves at no cost. Many free tools use user interactions to train future models by default, which may put sensitive information at risk. While some free tools offer settings to limit data use for model training, they do not provide the same security, privacy, and administrative safeguards as enterprise AI tools.

Microsoft 365 Copilot

Zoom AI Companion
Best for improving meeting productivity. Use it to capture notes, summarize discussions, identify action items, and stay informed before, during, and after Zoom meetings.
Adobe AI Assistant
Best for understanding and working with documents. Use it to summarize PDFs, find key information, answer questions about files, and speed up document review.
