The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award to Julia Peterson, Office Associate for the Department of Military Science at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
For more than 17 years, Julia has held positions at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; the last 10 years as Office Associate for the Department of Military Science. There she performs duties within two administrative systems; UNL and the United States Army.
Today, we recognize Julia for the exceptional support she provides in organizing the annual ROTC Chancellor’s Review. Though aligned with the Department of Military Service, she extends her talents to the Departments of Aerospace Studies and Naval Science in this effort. She spends months preparing for the event; arranging nominees, inviting award and scholarship presenters, developing scripts, conducting rehearsals, and organizing the event set up and completion.
Julia provides awards and scholarship applications to cadets and midshipmen, highlighting opportunities for these talented students to be recognized. She coordinates with more than 30 community presenters for the spring ceremony. Through hours of rehearsals, she ensures cadets and midshipmen properly showcase UNL’s prestige and high standards.
Her efforts strengthen UNL’s connection with the community and ROTC students. More than 100 UNL cadets and midshipmen receive awards, and more than $80,000 in scholarship funds are provided to deserving students. Julie demonstrates selfless dedication to ROTC students, ensuring every person and every interaction matters.
Joining Julie today are Professor of Military Science Lieutenant Colonel Tom Slykhuis; Dawn Hegert, Air Force ROTC Office Associate; Professor of Aerospace Studies Lieutenant Colonel Philip Garito; Lieutenant Colonel Jena Gartland, Professor of Aerospace Studies, and Staff Seargent Garrett Clausen.
Please join me in thanking Julia Peterson for her dedication to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
