On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to present a KUDOS Award to UNMC’s April Elker, an instructional designer in the UNMC College of Public Health. She supports teaching, course design and technology consultations for in-person, blended and online learning environments.
“A champion for students and the mission of providing them an excellent educational experience, April keeps the student at the center and keeps other stakeholders focused on the student experience,” one nominator said.
April has been developing and implementing UNMC’s micro-credentialing program where students, clinicians, researchers, staff and faculty build new competencies and earn credentials in specialized areas.
Her approach to researching and designing the UNMC badging framework is innovative. Co-workers say her commitment to high standards is apparent in the quality of the programs and in the participant’s positive feedback.
“She has gone above and beyond to ensure that the program meets the needs of the UNMC community,” one nominator said.
April’s creative solutions improve processes, enhance outcomes, and inspire others. Coworkers say she is a role model for excellence, and “actively explores new ideas, embraces cutting-edge approaches and challenges the status quo to drive meaningful, transformational change.”
Today, April is joined by her supervisor, Analisa McMillan and one of her nominators, Peggy Moore.
