The UNO, UNL and UNK campuses each have a limited number of licenses to campus enterprise/EDU environments of ChatGPT. Compared to free ChatGPT, enterprise GPT environments are targeted for large organizations needing advanced features/security options, do not use enterprise data for AI training, give us higher limits for things like file uploads, give us additional features such as custom GPTs, allow us to assign license access on timelines we determine locally (such as semesters), and are behind university single sign on.
The number of licenses available today corresponds to the amount of budget each campus has currently identified for this limited pilot of ChatGPT, and our pilot can fairly easily be scaled up if additional funds are identified. If Research Offices want to fund additional licenses of enterprise ChatGPT for their respective campus, our NU ITS team members would be happy to support expanded services.
Each campus uses a request process for individuals to indicate that they would like to utilize license. The request process also allows administrators to review intended use cases for risk and requires that a Bridge AI compliance training be completed before a license is provisioned. These licenses are intended for use in teaching, operations and research.
To get started with requesting a license:
Request at UNK
300* total licenses
Request at UNL
200* total licenses
Request at UNO
1600* total licenses
* This number reflects the total contracted licenses per campus each semester. Applicants will be notified of availability once they apply.
At this time, NU ITS is exploring the possibility of adding access to enterprise ChatGPT for a select number of UNMC users. Currently, however, this service is not available at UNMC.
The paid version of Microsoft 365 Co-Pilot is an AI companion that combines the power of large language models with the NU System's own protected data within the flow of work by working alongside Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Microsoft 365 Copilot is an optional service, with additional licensing costs paid for by each user requesting the service, that is not bundled into our standard Microsoft 365 A5 licenses. Microsoft 365 Copilot also incorporates Enterprise Data Protection and grants access to Copilot Studio. NU ITS is currently offering access to Microsoft 365 Copilot as a pilot to evaluate the viability and cost-effectiveness within the NU System. Learn more about the differences between Copilot Chat and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Build custom AI agents or enhance Microsoft 365 Copilot. Copilot Studio turns conversation into action by using connectors, workflows, custom topics, and AI prompts. Leverage more than 1500 prebuilt data connectors across Microsoft and non-Microsoft data sources to connect services that make your agents more efficient, as well as the ability to build autonomous agents that operate independently on your behalf.
The request process for studio is currently in development. Check back regularly for updates...
AWS and Azure offerings can be consumed by requesting access through a NU researcher's distributed IT (DIT) staff. DIT staff can request access via their work with NU ITS in our secure cloud environment. Some researchers are already using these environments, which are charged on a consumption basis in arrears.
We are regularly updating our NU ITS webpage that lists available AI information.
