Shari Clarke Appointed Vice President of Mansfield University
Shari Clarke, associate to the president of the University of Nebraska, has been appointed vice president for student affairs of Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. The appointment is effective June 2, 2003.

Clarke has been an administrator at the University of Nebraska since 1998. She has provided leadership on diversity and gender equity initiatives on all four campuses of the university, working with faculty, students, and staff. She organized the \'Honoring Women’s Voices' conference series for women at the university as well as the annual SHE conference which encourages high school girls to seek empowerment through higher education. She also has initiated training programs for administrators to help establish diversity as a goal in the recruitment of new faculty and staff members.

'Shari Clarke has been a driving force in the university’s efforts to enhance the diversity of its campuses and in helping build a welcoming climate for students, faculty and staff of color and of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds,' said University of Nebraska President L. Dennis Smith. 'She has done a tremendous job, bringing her extraordinary organizational skills to a very challenging assignment. We will miss her leadership as well as her diplomacy in dealing with issues related to diversity and equity.'

Mansfield University is a member institution of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and has an enrollment of 3,300. Clarke will receive her Ph.D. degree in educational leadership and higher education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May.
