Stacy Rickel Computer Programmer and Analyst University Libraries UNL
On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to present a KUDOS award to Stacy Rickel, Computer Programmer and Analyst for University Libraries at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
An 11-year employee of the libraries, Stacy designs and writes computer programs for a variety of web-based applications. Her colleagues praise her exemplary work, responsiveness, competence and technical knowledge.
This year, Stacy worked on the revitalization of the Library 110 course where she quickly and competently transformed ideas into reality, offering her own carefully thought-out ideas and recommendations. Perhaps the best example of her service commitment is the Spirit of Design Project, where she has been working with professors from Architecture to create a database with a very complex navigation – one that could not be done with existing applications. Instead of telling her colleagues that the project was impossible, she learned a new database program and created a new interface for the project. The database is in use and is the foundation of several grant proposals the faculty have submitted.
Stacy routinely takes on extra assignments and learns new applications that have been critical to the success of different projects. She works collaboratively, communicates effectively and serves as a mentor to others.
It is my pleasure to present this award to Stacy Rickel (Rick-ul). She is joined today by her parents, Charles and Dona (Donna); her sister Terri; her supervisor Deeann Allison; and the dean of libraries, Joan Giesecke (GEE’- suh-kee).
