Rhonda Simpson Sterile Services Supervisor College of Dentistry UNMC
Rhonda began her career at the Dental School almost 24 years ago, beginning as a dental assistant in the Pediatric Department, moving up to Dental Assistant Specialist, and now supervising the Central Sterilization area. Her job is an important one. Knowledgeable and diligent in her oversight of all dental protocols, Rhonda is meticulous in making certain instruments and materials used in dental clinics are safe for all dental patients. Not often recognized, Central Sterilization is the hub of the Dental School and is vital in making the entire operation run smoothly.
Additionally, Rhonda takes advantage of advanced classes in sterilization techniques and practices to make certain the Dental School stays on the cutting edge of up-to-date dental practices.
Recently the School held its annual Dental Day and provided services for 190 children at 12 separate sites in many under-served areas of Nebraska. Rhonda helped organize the event, contacting dental offices and providing supplies and needs at all 12 clinic locations – and ensuring healthy teeth for hundreds of young people.
Rhonda's guests today include her supervisor, Diane Rocke, along with colleagues Dr. David Brown and Robin Gound – as well as her husband, Frederick Simpson.
