Barbara J. Harshbarger Office Associate Department of Political Science and Department of Criminal Justice and Social Work UNK
The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award to Barbara J. Harshbarger (Harsh-bar-gur), Office Associate in both the Department of Political Science – and the Department of Criminal Justice and Social Work – at the University of Nebraska at Kearney
Barb has been an important part of the staff at UNK since 1989, and colleagues say her strengths characterize her remarkable service to the campus – traits that include a helpful attitude, willingness to assume additional responsibilities, and extraordinary knowledge of UNK policies and procedures.
Peter Longo, Chair of the Department of Political Science, describes her this way: “Barbara Harshbarger imbues a sense of hospitality. Students, faculty and guests all feel as if the University is an open place. This sense is punctuated with a high degree of competence and a love to serve others.”
Barb’s confident attitude has enabled her to respond positively to occasional college and departmental reorganizations that have directly affected her responsibilities. Despite those periodic changes in assignment areas, Barb made certain the work continued smoothly with little disruption to students and faculty. Barb’s colleagues appreciate her spirit of cooperation, her quick smile, and her contagious sense of humor. She demonstrates daily that we are to bloom - where we are planted.
For exceptional service to her department, the campus community, and to the University of Nebraska, the Regents take pride and pleasure in presenting the KUDOS Award to Barbara Harshbarger. Barbara is joined today by her husband, Kern.
