Director of Student Housing and Residential and Greek Life, UNK
The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award to Rick Larsen, Director of Student Housing and Residential and Greek Life at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
As Director of Residential and Greek Life, Rick is responsible for directing all the activities in this high-profile UNK department, including the management of personnel, physical facilities, and budget analysis, oversight, and expenditure. The position also requires collaboration and positive relationship-building with offices across the entire campus, and Rick excels.
His enthusiasm is contagious, his “student first” attitude admirable, and his energy seemingly boundless. At this time of the year – when students are arriving and getting settled in residence hall accommodations – Rick’s title translates into long hours and hard work. And that is especially true this year as Antelope Hall, the first of UNK’s new suite-style residence halls, opened for student living. Combined with the Nester Hall project – scheduled for completion next year – the new residence halls make up the largest construction project ever undertaken on the UNK campus.
Interim Dean of Student Life Peter Longo says: “Rick has spent countless hours helping contractors to bring in a fine new residence hall to UNK. He views his work not as a chore but as a vocation. Our students are well served by his dedication.”
Rick’s dedication to his profession has earned him the respect of colleagues within the University of Nebraska and across the state and nation. We are honored to present this KUDOS Award to Rick Larsen for his exceptional performance as Director of Residential and Greek Life, and for his dedication and commitment to the University.
