Dee Goedert
Head of Access Services, C.T. Ryan Library, UNK

The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award to Dee A. Goedert (Gedd-ert), head of Access Services at C.T. Ryan Library at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Dee joined the UNK staff in 1990 and has earned the respect of students and colleagues alike for her professionalism and her dedicated work on behalf of the library.

Janet Wilke, Dean of the Library, says of Dee: “She is a positive, friendly face in our library, often on the front line, handling both positive interactions and complaints. She is also the eyes of the building. She and her staff open and close our library every day, and note any problems with the facility that need attention.”

More specifically, Dee manages the library’s automated circulation system, maintains library statistics and manages Circulation Access Services, which includes supervising three staff members and 12 students who generally provide circulation desk service during all open library hours.

Colleagues say Dee has an admirable work ethic and describe her as positive, pleasant, creative and energetic. These compliments are well-earned. Beyond her assigned duties, Dee serves on campus search committees and on committees for the Nebraska Library Association; chairs the library’s Emergency Preparedness Committee and is a member of the Library Professionals.
