Wally is a consummate professional, supplying exemplary customer service and improving the effectiveness of daily technical operations.
A variety of internationally-renowned scientists and researchers rely heavily on Wally and his team, who work to ensure that often complicated computer systems utilized in research are set up and installed quickly and correctly. Wally, in fact, often comes to a scientist’s laboratory to personally help install the computer and check internet availability.
His knowledge of computers is vast, with extensive understanding of especially complicated programs. Yet he is also accommodating and patient with people who do not share this understanding. Co-workers and supervisors say Wally has a special knack for anticipating a problem before it surfaces – as well as excellent problem-solving skills and a conscientious nature for saving the Institute money when repairing and purchasing new computer equipment. Wally is an extremely valuable asset to UNMC, due to a strong work ethic and a dedication to ensuring the Institute’s IT needs are met on a daily basis.
He is joined today by his wife, Anita; Dr. Ken Cowan, Director of the Eppley Center and Eppley Institute; and Matt Winfrey, Associate Director for Administration and External Affairs at the Eppley Center and Institute.
We are honored to present this KUDOS Award to Walter Murphy for his dedication and exceptional service to the Eppley Cancer Center and the Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases.
