It is Marcia's responsibility to make sure this heavily scheduled building is always ready. She oversees custodial schedules; monitors room set-ups and technology needs; coordinates with the Campus Bookstore, food courts, and other businesses housed in the Nebraskan to accommodate special requests; and periodically checks with guests to assure that their needs are being met.
It is important work. What she does and how she does it make a lasting impression on students, faculty, staff, and the public who schedule activities in the facility. Her supervisors and colleagues say she is more than up to the challenge. Her calm and positive demeanor, her ability to anticipate customer needs, her knowledge of the campus, and her attention to detail are wonderful assets. "Marcia makes service to students and customers her highest priority," says Sharon Pelc, Director of the Nebraskan Student Union. "She consistently works to give the very best accommodations to the over 3,000 groups that meet in the Nebraskan each year." In addition, Marcia routinely volunteers at the Reservations Desk when help is needed.
A native of Holdrege, Marcia and her husband Delmer have five children, five grandchildren, a cabin at Harlan County Lake, and a love for their fishing poles.
The Board of Regents takes great pleasure in presenting Marcia Gugelman with the September 2008 KUDOS Award. Her service and dedication to the University are outstanding.
