Coordinator of the English Language Institute in the Department of International Education, UNK
Diane Longo joined the staff of the University of Nebraska at Kearney in August of 1997. She serves as the Coordinator of the English Language Institute in the Department of International Education. The institute provides a comprehensive program that prepares international students for admission into a degree program at UNK. Its primary mission is to improve non-native students’ English skills, and its focus is on teaching and learning in a safe and nurturing environment.

The significant increase in students served by the English Language Institute is due in no small part to Diane’s efforts. Her responsibilities include managing and coordinating 14 teachers and all students who are enrolled in the institute. She is described by peers as “a wonderful leader” and as “thoughtful and supportive to the students and faculty.” Dr. Finnie Murray, director of International education stated, “It is largely due to Diane’s leadership, that the English Language Institute program received such a strong endorsement in its last Academic Program Review.”
For her commitment to developing the Institute to its fullest potential and her gracious and expert assistance to UNK’s international students and the University community at large, we are proud to honor Diane Longo.
Congratulations, Diane, on receiving the KUDOS award. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the university.
