The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award to Lee McQueen. Lee was named UNK Director of Facilities Management and Planning in August 2005 and since that time has earned the admiration and respect of both the campus and the greater Kearney communities. His responsibilities are far-reaching and include architectural, engineering and facilities planning, construction management, professional direction of campus custodial services, utility production and distribution, maintenance and repair services, energy management, landscape maintenance, and environmental health and safety. Additionally, he is responsible for the University Motor Pool, campus central stores, and campus events and reservations functions.
Since his arrival, Lee has expertly guided the campus through several major renewal projects, which most recently include the construction of the Antelope/Nester Residence Halls complex, extensive renovation of Bruner Hall of Science, and the reconstruction of the Central Utilities Plant. He is most proud of his staff’s response to the ice storm of January 2007, preparation for the May 2008 campus electrical outage that occurred in conjunction with the Central Utilities Plant project, and landscape repairs after multiple construction projects.
Lee also serves on UNK’s Staff Senate and is a member of the Central Association of Physical Plant Administrators Professional Development Committee. The Board is pleased to honor Lee for his leadership, his selfless focus on the campus mission, and his exceptional performance as Director of Facilities Management. Congratulations, Lee.
