This KUDOS award goes to Joan DeHaven, accounts payable manager in the finance office at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. A CPA by profession, Joan’s passion, as she puts it, is finding ways to “build a better mouse trap,” especially in the area of technology solutions that enhance efficiency and productivity. Her better mouse traps have resulted in a number of University-wide improvements to SAP functional routines and processes. Joan’s Finance Office colleagues depend on her for technical hardware and software support, and she is the “go-to” person in the Division of Business and Finance for tax-related research and guidance.

In addition to being UNK’s Accounts Payable Manager, Joan is accounts payable trainer, asset records manager, plant accountant, general accountant, web page master, and a representative on numerous University-wide teams. For the past 15 months she has been responsible for planning and training all users and for the deployment of the SAP automated travel system. At the same time, she has been developing a central database for campus student organizations to preserve continuity as sponsors and officers change.
For her dedication to the campus community, her significant contributions to the University, and her superior performance as accounts payable manager, the University is pleased to honor Joan DeHaven. Congratulations Joan.
