Enterprise Information Solutions Group-Information Services Director, UNL
In February 2008, after Associate Vice-Chancellor for Information Services, Kent Hendrickson, tragically died of injuries suffered in a car accident, Gary Aerts was asked to take the position on an interim basis. Gary skillfully and selflessly stepped up to this challenge in order to serve the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Gary served as Interim Associate Vice-Chancellor of Information Services for UNL from February 2008 until August 2009.

Gary held the department’s focus on evolving innovative, strategic solutions to better serve UNL’s research and instruction enterprises as well as the student body.
Gary provided outstanding leadership in working with other campus entities on IT-related projects. His commitment to excellence and to teamwork allowed UNL to continue its momentum on a growing list of projects and opportunities that needed to be addressed during his tenure.
Gary continues to serve as a greatly respected campus leader on countless committees and teams including the Web Advisory Group and the Information Services Executive Team. Gary’s tremendous talent and collegiality represent a significant asset to UNL and the University of Nebraska as a whole.
