On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to present a KUDOS Award to Jenny Holen, Office Associate in the Office of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Jenny began her UNK career in the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Office where she served from 1983 until 2002. At that time, she began in her current position in the division of Multicultural Affairs. Jenny’s responsibilities include assisting the director in all aspects of office detail, monitoring budgets and expenditures, programming Ethnic Heritage Month events, maintaining scholarship student records and reports, and special projects that include UNK’s Multicultural Scholars and Leaders Day, the Nebraska Cultural Unity Conference (which attracted more than 425 high school students this year), the annual Multicultural Achievement Recognition Awards Program, and mid-term grade evaluations for scholarship students. Jenny excels at all of her responsibilities, but students know her best as a friend and mentor. “I love working in the Office of Multicultural Affairs,” she says, “because it is rewarding when I can touch one student’s heart to let him or her believe that they can be anything they want to be after they graduate from college. I want students to know that we care about them and to let them know our office can be their ‘home away from home.’”
Jenny’s supervisor, Director of Multicultural Affairs Juan Guzman, said: “She exhibits a strong commitment to diversity and leadership, and she has demonstrated love and compassion to all whose lives she has touched. She has excellent communication skills, she is extremely organized, flexible and reliable, and she is always willing to go the extra mile.”
With Jenny today is her husband, Randy. Please join me in thanking Jenny Holen for her work and dedication to UNK and its students.
