To make it easy to find your courses, students should bookmark and use canvas.nebraska.edu. From there, you will simply choose the semester for the course you want to access, and the system will direct you to the correct Canvas instance.
This approach helps ensure you always land in the right place, no matter where your course is housed.
What username and password should I use to log into the new instance of Canvas for Fall 2026 courses?
All University of Nebraska students will log in using their TrueYou username (NUID@nebraska.edu) and associated TrueYou password.

We understand account access issues can be stressful, and this tool is designed to help you quickly get what you need.
While we highly encourage everyone to log into this Canvas instance using their TrueYou/NU ID credentials, we have also created a pathway for UNMC/Nebraska Medicine individuals to login using their campus credentials.
How do I access the new Canvas instance on my mobile device?
If you’re currently logged into the Canvas mobile app:
- Tap the three‑line menu icon in the upper‑left corner.
- Scroll to the bottom and select “Log Out.”
- On the login screen, instead of choosing your campus, tap “Find Another School.”
- Search for “University of Nebraska System.”
This ensures your app connects to the correct, updated Canvas environment for Fall 2026 and beyond.
Do I need to update my notification settings in the new Canvas instance?
When you log into the new Canvas instance for the first time, you should be prompted to confirm or update your notification preferences.

How can I access course materials, assignments, and grades from semesters prior to Fall 2026?
We know students sometimes need to reference past coursework—for transfer needs, advising, or personal records. You will continue to have access to your previous course materials in the earlier Canvas instance.
Links to the campus-specific Canvas environments used through Summer 2026 will remain available through at least 2031 at canvas.nebraska.edu.
Who should I contact if something isn't working in Canvas?
If you run into an issue, help is readily available:
- Start with your instructor. They can often clarify whether something is specific to the course or if it needs additional attention.
- Visit the Student Support page. It includes direct links to technical support, troubleshooting resources, and 24/7 assistance options from Instructure.
