The Board of Regents is pleased to present a KUDOS award to John Nollette, Ranch Technician-Lead at the West Central Research, Education and Extension Center in Whitman, Nebraska, University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
For more than 25 years, John has lived and worked at the Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory where he is an integral part of the success of faculty, staff, students and producers who utilize the research and Extension programs at the lab. John goes above and beyond expectations, assuming additional responsibilities to ensure the success of research at the lab. During blizzards, blazing hot summers and droughts, John provides exceptional care for the livestock.
His many colleagues and student nominators wrote:
- “John has consistently gone above and beyond in serving the best interests of both the cattle and the ranch. His work ethic is truly exceptional.”
- “John adds practical value to projects by providing insight, expertise, and understanding of the Sandhills ranching area; he truly understands and values the land grant mission of the university.”
- “I appreciate how much effort John puts into caring for the cattle, as well as protecting the integrity of the research at GSL.”
- “Because of John’s dedication, the quality of our research and Extension program at GSL is respected and recognized.”
- And finally, “John has made a meaningful and lasting impact on the many students who have spent time on the ranch. He and his wife have generously opened their home to welcome students offering home-cooked meals and a warm, supportive environment to connect.”
Active in the community, he served on the school board, the County Fair Board, and was the fire chief of the Whitman volunteer fire department where he still volunteers and was recently out with his neighbors fighting the Ashby fire.
John’s wife, Stacy is joining us today. Please help me thank John Nollette for his dedication to the University of Nebraska exhibited by his exceptional commitment, independent work ethic, and contributions to the programs at the Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory, as well as his dedication to his neighbors.
