The Board of Regents is honored to present the KUDOS Award to Tamara Omtvedt, Enrollment and Marketing Management Specialist for the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Tam, a valued member of UNK’s Communications and Marketing team for seven years, has brought exceptional expertise, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of how to reach and engage prospective students. She has significantly elevated UNK’s Admissions communications using email and direct mail strategies.
In the 2024–25 recruitment cycle, nearly four million emails and more than 112,000 direct mail pieces were sent with even higher numbers projected this year. She collaborates seamlessly with Admissions, academic departments, the CRM team, and campus partners to ensure every message is timely, strategic, and aligned with UNK’s goals. Tam is at the center of this work.
A most impactful achievement has been the development and execution of UNK’s comprehensive “drip” email campaign. Under her leadership, a year-long communication plan was created to guide students through the college search process, blending promotional and transactional messaging with CRM-driven automation. This level of strategy and execution did not exist before Tam’s tenure. Tam is the first to emphasize that this success is shared.
She says, “I’m honored to receive this award, but the success of our email communications is truly a team effort. Our CRM team provides the structure, insight, and reliability that ensure our messages reach the right students at the right time. Their behind-the-scenes work makes it all possible.”
She is setting a new standard for both quality and scale, pairing a clear vision with meticulous execution. Her work has strengthened UNK’s recruitment efforts and positioned it for continued success.
For her leadership, innovation, and unwavering commitment to excellence, it is my honor to congratulate Tamara Omtvedt on receiving the KUDOS Award. Tam’s guests are her husband, Mark; her father-in-law, Irv Omtvedt retired Vice Chancellor from IANR at UNL; her supervisor and Director of Marketing, Kyle Means; and Todd Gottula, Chief Marketing & Communication Officer.
