On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to present a KUDOS Award to UNMC’s Carmen Sirizzotti, Associate Director in UNMC Human Resources and UNMC’s Title IX coordinator.
For more than 20 years, Carmen has delivered meaningful, high-quality work that has strengthened UNMC Human Resources and the campus community.
Working closely with IT, she helped design and implement such programs as: UNeVal Performance Evaluations for staff and postdoctoral employees, the online College of Medicine Transitioning Employees Scholarship System, online Recurring and Additional Payments in ADIS, and the Personnel File Scanning Project, which transitioned employee records to electronic files in ADIS.
Nominators applaud Carmen’s command of employment regulations. She has guided teams through regulatory and policy updates, including changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act, Nebraska’s minimum wage, I‑9 compliance requirements and the Voluntary FTE Reduction Policy.
Carmen initiated UNMC’s participation in the Step‑Up program, which links teens and young adults with career exploration and job training opportunities. In addition, she automated many HR processes and established the Title IX Office at UNMC, which investigates discrimination matters under Title IX and sex discrimination. She has done extensive training and education in this area with faculty, staff and students. In fact, Carmen is often heard saying: “Medicine and Title IX have one thing in common: Prevention is the key.”
One nominator said: “The impact of Carmen’s work can be seen across UNMC—in the systems used every day, the policies that guide decisions, and the culture of accountability and care she has helped shape.”
Today, Carmen is joined by Linda Cunningham Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Leslie Planos from the College of Information Science and Technology.
Help me thank Carmen for 20 years of contributions, her deep regulatory knowledge, thoughtful leadership and valuable mentorship. Her work has strengthened UNMC Human Resources and the entire UNMC community.
