On behalf of the Board of Regents, I am pleased to present a KUDOS Award to UNMC’s Jessi Delaney, a clinical research oncology nurse in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office.
Handling protocol management, Jessi plays a critical role in ensuring the success and quality of all gastrointestinal clinical trial studies. She also trains clinical nurse coordinators in the Pancreatic Cancer Center of Excellence.
Colleagues say Jessi handles complex oncology clinical trials with care and compassion toward her patients. She currently oversees 20 clinical studies – each with its own rules, regulations and eligibility requirements. She is also the first point of contact for every participating GI trial patient to answer their questions and help them navigate their care.
Said one nominator: “In the world of clinical trials, there is no room for misses and errors. Jessi knows the protocols and expectations and holds others to those standards, so that the best outcome is available for the patient.”
One colleague calls her “my walking Google” because of her extensive knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures.
A registered nurse, Jessi joined UNMC in 2021, and makes patient care, the foundation of everything she does. At the same time, she ensures the team conducts quality trials that promote and protect the cancer center.
Her guests today include her spouse, Matthew Delaney, her mother, Tracy Dunham and daughter, Shiloh Delaney, along with Susan Blumel, Research Nurse Manager. Please help us thank Jessi for her outstanding ability to handle complex oncology clinical trials, and for being a fearless advocate for both patients and good clinical practice.
