The University of Nebraska is pleased to present your NUFlex Benefits enrollment information for 2021. Please read all of the enrollment information carefully. Take time to review your current benefits and make decisions that will be best for you and your family in 2021.
Your benefits selection from the prior year will automatically roll over, with the exception of flexible spending accounts. You only need to change what you want to be different, or add new benefits. The health risk assessment and tobacco/nicotine designation need to be completed on a yearly basis.
When you add or change benefits in Firefly, simply save your selection, and the benefit change will be automatically submitted. There is not a "submit" button at the end of the process.
Long Term Disability premiums will decrease 20%.
The long term disability plan provides monthly benefits if you become ill or injured and are unable to work. The program is designed to restore part of your work earnings lost during a period of disability. We encourage you to review the long term disability program offerings to review the available coverages. (See page 13 in the NUFlex newsletter for details.)
Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts will allow you to carry over up to $550 in unspent Health Care Flexible Spending Account funds from 2020 to 2021.
This means that Health Care flexible spending care account amounts you do not use during the 2020 year can be carried over to the 2021 year, subject to the IRS maximum carry over amount of $550. (See page 12 in the NUFlex newsletter for details.)
An employer sponsored Health Savings Account (HSA) option is being added. Employees must be enrolled in the University's qualified high deductible health plan to take advantage of the HSA. The HSA will allow an employee to set aside personal pre-tax dollars into an HSA to be used for qualified medical expenses. For more information, see page 10 of the NUFlex Newsletter or the Fidelity HSA Reference Guide.
The enhanced provider tier for participants in the health insurance plan includes Nebraska Medicine and associated providers. Members will incur a lower deductible, co-insurance rate and maximum out of pocket if an enhanced tier provider is used by an employee, spouse or dependent.
The existing deductibles, co-insurance rates and maximum out-of-pocket limits for other in-network providers will not change. The services covered by the health plan will be the same for all providers. For more information, see page 9 of the NUFlex Newsletter.
The University of Nebraska is committed to helping you take control of your health. To help you manage your health and health-care costs, we are giving you the opportunity to complete the Wellstream Health Risk Assessment (HRA) again this year. This assessment will help you evaluate and monitor your health and you will receive the enhanced wellness and preventive services benefit for completing it. You can complete the HRA on Firefly during the NUFlex Benefits enrollment period from Monday, Oct. 26 through Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, at 5 p.m.
Benefits of completing the HRA include:
