Key Facts
- In 2026, NU is moving from four separate instances of Canvas into a single instance used by all campuses.
- Spring and Summer 2026 courses will be taught in existing campus instances. Starting with the Fall 2026 term, all courses will be in the new instance of Canvas.
- Two years of past courses (Fall 2024, Spring/Summer/Fall 2025 will be copied in March 2026; Spring 2026 will be copied in June 2026; Summer 2026 will be copied in September 2026) will be copied into the new Canvas environment. If faculty want to view, access, or copy additional content, they are welcome to do so and the existing campus-specific instances of Canvas will remain available.
- A unified support team will assist faculty and is available through a Zoom drop in room or by emailing its-lmsteam@nebraska.edu. If desired, faculty can set up an in-person support session at UNK, UNL, UNO or UNMC. For most immediate support, faculty are encouraged to connect with the team through the Zoom drop in room.
- All content in Canvas needs to be accessible per federal and state law as well as per University of Nebraska EM 47. Canvas is not a HIPAA compliant environment, so no Patient Health Information (PHI) may be uploaded or stored in Canvas.
- We highly encourage everyone to log into this system using their TrueYou/NU ID credentials. However, there is also a pathway for UNMC/Nebraska Medicine individuals to login using their campus credentials.
