Collaboration Initiative Single-Year Seed Grant

The University is offering single-year seed grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 to support research collaborations aligned with current federal funding programs and priorities. Proposals will be consisdred in the following Commons Research Areas:

  • Advanced Technology
  • Agriculture & Bioeconomy
  • Educational Sciences
  • Health Sciences
  • Human Performance
  • Humanities/Creative Activities
  • National Security
  • Natural Resources

These grants aim to foster new and existing research collaborations across two or more Nebraska campuses* that focus on:

  • Generating preliminary data critical for federally funded research grant proposals or resubmissions.
  • Developing capabilities that enable the University of Nebraska's National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) to secure contract funding from its sponsor (U.S. Strategic Command), other Department of Defense entities, or other federal agencies.

*Note: IANR is considered part of the Lincoln campus. Collaborations between the Lincoln and Medical Center campuses are permitted. For NSRI priority-topic projects, collaboration with an NSRI content expert is encouraged. Collaborating with such an expert and a PI/Co-Investigators from a single campus meets the collaboration requirement. Alternatively, PI/Co-Investigators from multiple campuses without an NSRI expert also fulfill the requirement.
