Dear Faculty and Staff,
In response to changes in Adobe’s licensing and pricing structure, the University of Nebraska Information Technology Services (NU ITS) is updating how Adobe products are licensed across the NU system. This updated licensing model will help us continue to be good stewards of university funds while ensuring access to Adobe tools for those who rely on them for their work.
Through February 15, 2026, all faculty, staff, and UNL students will continue to have full access to the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
Beginning February 16, 2026, Adobe access will move to a new model that better aligns tools with how they are commonly used. Under this model, faculty and staff will have the following access:
- Adobe Acrobat Pro (automatically included for all faculty & staff):
- Continue to have access to Adobe Acrobat Pro for working with PDFs, including viewing, creating, editing, combining files, adding signatures, and managing accessibility features.
- For many faculty and staff, Adobe Acrobat Pro is sufficient for day-to-day work.
- Adobe Creative Cloud (available by request):
- Faculty and staff who need advanced creative tools - such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro - may request a full Adobe Creative Cloud license.
- These tools are typically used for graphic design, video production, publications, or other advanced creative work.
- Adobe Express (available by request):
- Adobe Express includes Firefly AI features and makes it easy to create professional-quality digital media content, such as graphics, presentations, and social media assets.
To request access to Adobe Creative Cloud or Adobe Express, submit the request form at: its.nebraska.edu/adobe. NU ITS recommends submitting requests prior to February 16th to ensure uninterrupted access. If you do not need these tools now, you may submit a request at any time in the future should the need arise.
What to Expect After Requesting Access:
- Requests may be submitted at any time and do not require supervisor or IT approval.
- Access is automatically provisioned.
- You will receive an email from Adobe confirming your license, typically within 1–2 hours.
As part of this change, NU ITS will also be changing the way that you log in to Adobe. You will still log in at https://adobe.com, and if prompted, select “Company or School account.” After you enter your campus email address at the Adobe log in screen, you will now be directed to log inusing your TrueYou credentials to complete the sign-in process.
Information About Student Access:
All UNL students will continue to have full access to Adobe Express. Adobe Creative Cloud licenses will be available by request for UNL students who need them for coursework, research, or creative projects. UNL students have been notified directly via email about the new licensing model and request process. As in the past, UNO and UNK students will continue to have the option to purchase Adobe Creative Cloud licenses at a reduced rate. More information about student Adobe license eligibility is available at its.nebraska.edu/adobe.
By focusing licenses where they are most needed, NU ITS is ensuring continued access to essential Adobe tools while supporting sustainable and responsible stewardship of university resources.
Thank you for your continued creativity and innovation in support of our campuses. If you have questions about these changes, please contact NU ITS at nusupport@nebraska.edu.
