Gary Moulton, Ph.D.

Dr. Gary Moulton is truly a pioneer in the field of American pioneers. He has devoted the last 20 years to editing and publishing the 13-volume set of the Journals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, a rich resource for the 200th anniversary of the expedition. The work earned him the NU Outstanding Research and Creative Activity Award.

Moulton is credited with completing one of the finest and most inclusive collections of documentary editing, including an abridged Lewis and Clark edition. He continues to teach history as Thomas C. Sorensen Professor of American History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Moulton also has received the J. Franklin Jameson Award of the American Historical Association for editing the journals.
