During its Oct. 28 meeting, the University of Nebraska Board of Regents will discuss a proposal to expand eligibility for participation in the university's benefits program to include employees' partners. The change would address fairness, equity and competitiveness for employee recruitment, retention and satisfaction and would better position the university to attract talent to Nebraska.

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will meet Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege St. in Lincoln. Committee meetings begin at 8:30 a.m. and the Board meeting begins at 1 p.m. All meetings are open to the public. Meetings also will be audio-streamed live at www.nebraska.edu.

As part of its global engagement strategy to build partnerships with key nations that will benefit Nebraska and the world, the University of Nebraska announced today that it has signed an agreement with Xi’an Jiaotong University to create an American Culture Center in Xi’an, China.

09/09/2011 University’s Virtual Scholars program to provide 74 free online course enrollments for Nebraska high school students
NU President James B. Milliken announced the Virtual Scholars initiative in August, offering 50 free course enrollments on a competitive application basis. Today, Milliken announced that the university will support all 74 course applications that it received. Students from 25 high schools around the state will benefit.
09/08/2011 University of Nebraska proposes new policy for four-year bachelor's degree
University of Nebraska students who take a full course load of 15 credit hours per semester for eight semesters will be able to graduate in four years under a proposed new policy to be considered by the Board of Regents during its meeting tomorrow, Sept. 9. The 120-credit hour policy aims to provide significant savings to students and their families as well as maximize the university’s financial aid programs. Currently, many degree programs require 125 credit hours or more.

Enrollment passes 50,000 for first time since 1993.

University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken announced today that NU’s enrollment has reached its highest total in 18 years, exceeding 50,000 students for the first time since 1993.
