University of Nebraska President Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D. delivered his 2025 State of the University address on Thursday, Sept. 4, from the second-floor rotunda of the Nebraska State Capitol.

This year’s address marked Dr. Gold’s first anniversary as president of the University of Nebraska System. Building on his “Odyssey to Extraordinary” vision, he defined what “extraordinary” means for the University of Nebraska and shared his priorities for achieving it. Dr. Gold reflected on the University’s current standing; celebrated recent accomplishments in research, teaching, engagement and service; and outlined bold steps to position NU for long-term success.
