Linda Ray Pratt was Professor and Chair of the Department of English at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln before assuming the position of Executive Vice President and Provost of the University of Nebraska. Dr. Pratt received her Ph.D. from Emory University and has published widely on issues in higher education and in her scholarly field of Victorian and Modern Poetry. She has served as president and vice president of the national American Association of University Professors and as Chair of the Association of Departments of English. In 2000-01 she was Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at UNL. Dr. Pratt has won a Distinguished Teaching Award, and in 1994 she received the James A. Lake Academic Freedom Award from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
