University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds has begun a national search for the next chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Current Chancellor John Christensen has announced his plans to step down after more than 10 years of leadership at UNO, part of the four-campus University of Nebraska system and the state’s premier metropolitan university. The next chancellor will lead an institution that has seen significant growth in student enrollment, diversity, research activity, private philanthropy and its campus footprint.
The search will be broadly inclusive, involving input from a wide range of UNO stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students and community members. A finalist identified by President Bounds will visit campus and engage with the public before his or her appointment is considered by the Board of Regents.
